Formed in 2010, Kent based folk/country artists The Breretons are set to emerge on the London music scene this year with a string of live dates and a debut album scheduled for release in the Autumn. Born from the ashes of London based rock outfit The Original Sinners, the brother/sister duo Marc and Charlotte are returning to their folk roots, playing heartfelt story telling songs of rare poetic quality. Their haunting harmony vocals are accompanied by Alex Metcalfe (piano), Kirsty Mangan (violin), Jim Cox (drums) and Pete Clements (bass).
Emerging on the local singer/songwriter scene over a decade ago after a number of years playing in cover bands, Chris was quickly hailed as “an inspiring modern day troubadour who pens lyrics of real substance and meaning.” His music was described as “touching on themes and experiences that people are genuinely able to relate to and which capture the attention of his audience from the very first note, whether listening to him live or on one of his recordings.”
10 years later despite a long battle with tinnitus, the above remains as true as ever but with the added depth and insight that another decade of life experience brings. He has played regularly in the UK as well as at the fringe at SXSW and a number of venues in around Dallas and Austin. He is also one of the very few artists to have been played every Local & Live festival.
Night Without Sleep are amazed they are still alive. They have fully embraced this lease of life in becoming an acoustic duo comprised of Mad Dogs - Wolff Williams (vocals/guitar) and Jim (Funboy) Loosley (guitar/vocals). Trying hard not to let themselves fall into any one genre of music, they are renowned for their dramatic live shows with their close to the mark lyrics and the ability to get under the skin of the listener, marking them out as true artistic performers. Sitting comfortably away from the safety of uplifting pop they offer songs that are interesting, edgy, full of emotion and very different to anything else you will see. They are currently in the studio recording a couple of EPs which is about time.
My music is minimalist by nature; one voice and one guitar fused together with the aim of creating something pleasing to listen to.
I am a folk musician though my influences encompass a variety of musical genres. I write original compositions as well as performing traditional music and folk based interpretations of modern songs.
Paul adds: "James Lattimer’s beautifully crafted, atmospheric songs remind me of Bon Iver and Damien Rice. He writes lyrics of real substance and meaning and has a definite knack for creating easy on the ear melodies keeping you hooked throughout. "
