Headline Act: The Last Drones
'The Last Drones' duo was formed in 2009 by guitarist Matt Read & vocalist Jon Murray. After a gap of fifteen years from their first meeting as writers The Last Drones have combined to offer both lyrically & musically an original & unusual musical style. Matt's percussive and intricate guitar parts combine with Jon's distinctive vocals to create an emotionally driven & dramatic sound. Although they have many musical influences they see their music as the product of living in the moment, which they were lucky enough to capture together as friends and creative partners.
Annaca
Annaca is a Kent based singer/songwriter. She performs by herself on the piano as well as with her four-piece band that include Leo Humphries, Samuel Harrison and Ben Bashi. The music is very soulful and jazzy, with a playful electronic edge. There is a dramatic and theatrical essence about the music and performance Annaca and her band give out, having been described by the Emerging Icons as “a whirlwind of bright colours and rich, velvety sound."
In 2013 Annaca released her debut EP named, Haunted which was produced by the talented Jim Lowe (Stereophonics). The first single from the EP, 'Delilah' achieved record of the week status on BBC Kent Introducing. In Dec 2013 Annaca won a competition hosted by Dawsons Music and Yamaha Pianos whereby she was chosen by Jools Holland himself to open up his live show at the O2 Apollo in Manchester.
Hunger Magazine illustrates Annaca as "every inch the star her incredible voice promises". 2014 should be an exciting year for her having been working away at a new EP with electro producer Mike Joyce (IDNTY), hoping for release in the Spring of 2014.
Night Without Sleep
Night Without Sleep are amazed they are still alive. They have fully embraced this lease of life in becoming an acoustic duo comprised of Mad Dogs - Wolff Williams (vocals/guitar) and Jim (Funboy) Loosley (guitar/vocals). Trying hard not to let themselves fall into any one genre of music, they are renowned for their dramatic live shows with their close to the mark lyrics and the ability to get under the skin of the listener, marking them out as true artistic performers. Sitting comfortably away from the safety of uplifting pop they offer songs that are interesting, edgy, full of emotion and very different to anything else you will see. They are currently in the studio recording a couple of EPs which is about time.
Mystery Clarke Band
Tunbridge Wells based singer / songwriter Mystery Clarke has established himself as one of the most captivating and charismatic soloists on the local music scene. He has been performing at The Grey Lady for many years now and he has recently been working with a host of top local musicians to form one of the most unusual bands in the area. A veritable super-group of experts in the fields of funk, folk and electronica - The Mystery Clarke Band are well worth investigating. You can find them on YouTube, FaceBook, SoundCloud and their own website. Influences include the phases of the moon and the changing of the seasons. And what is the mystery? See if you can find out!
