10pm — Storm Engine (headline)      www.stormengine.co.uk

Storm Engine are a local band that was formed in Horam, East Sussex, in late 2007 by brothers Charlie and George Baldwin. Fresh off the mark of their previous rock band, Jonas 3, they were eager to try something new based in funk, rock and pop. With Intraverse’s Wayne Brummer joining last year, the band had found it’s guitarist but was still short one singer. Charlie met Ryan Barker in 2009 at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music through friends and, after playing together for an end of term gig they kept in contact. Living round the corner in Heathfield and having just split from his previous band, Fall to Fiction, Ryan had been looking for a chance to do something funk/pop based and was only too happy to join up when asked. Initially believing the offer to be for a single song collaboration he was happy to find himself becoming the fourth and final member of Storm Engine. About 18 months after forming the band’s Myspace page was discovered by Roy Hendrickson, a prolific producer based at Avatar Studios in New York. Roy works closely with UK based Genesis producer David Hentschel and together they contacted the band and offered to mix a few tracks. This progressed to a working relationship and the producers and Storm Engine are now collaborating in the search for a record deal and the recording and releasing of new songs. Storm Engine continue to write rock/pop/funk music, play gigs around the South East of England growing their fanbase with every gig.

9pm — The Alex B Band       www.thealexbband.com

"Acoustic roots with a rocking twist" is the way this 4 piece band from Tunbridge Wells, Kent like to describe their music, which most people find tricky to pigeon hole due to the many different styles they use in there sets. Alex, Chris, Dan and Phil together they have stunned audiences with their lively performances that demand to be listened to. After writing his debut album 'White and Grey' singer-songwriter Alex Beharrell found that his songs performed with a full band was a recipe for success. After touring for a bit Alex and the gang together wrote the eclectic and wonderfully produced album 'Bottled Up' which officially made the band one of Kents favourites. 2012 was a fantastic year after placing in the top 20 breakthrough bands in 'SO magazine', made the top 8 out of thousands for a chance to play at the Hopfarm festival, they won the Ashford battle of the bands, plus with a new EP on the way The Alex B Band are showing no signs of slowing down.

8pm — Son of Kirk     www.facebook.com/sonofkirk

Son of Kirk is a constantly evolving musical force driven by four uniquely creative individuals. Interweaving violin, cello and syncopated guitar lines, combine with dance and Afro beat informed percussive drum patterns and elements of improvisation. Four part harmonies create overlapping vocal lines, inspired by tribal and folk traditions. Expect to be taken on multiple rhythmic twists and turns, by songs that circle and hover, unveil and reveal. The band are currently working on new songs to be released as a series of E.P.s with accompanying films. The first of these ‘Utopia Shake’ will be available to view on Facebook from mid May. Songs are available at iTunes.
