Chiddingstone based duo Ant & Fie are Anthony Vicary (guitar and vocals) and Fiona Keeler (vocals & Piano.) Anthony was previously the frontman of local indie/rock band ‘Catching Flies'. After five years of rigorous performing all over the southeast it was decided that the band had reached a natural end leading Anthony to put down his electric guitar and explore the acoustic side of rock music. With Fiona joining more recently, this talented duo have fused together to emerge as one of the most talented and highly respected acts at the show here at The Grey Lady. Their breathtaking vocals express creative and thought provoking lyrics coupled with crafted melodies which comprises elements of folk, blues and alternative acoustic rock. The duo enjoyed their radio debut earlier this year with a recent live performance of ‘Tobacco Stained Guitar' on BBC Radio Kent. They have just released their debut EP entitled ‘The Quiet'.
I am currently working with producers on my songs, ultimately working on producing a five track EP album; my main goal is to gain representation through a record label, so that I can release my music, to have a marketing plan to go with this, and to get songs released and on the radio. I have had songs played through internet radio stations; I also have a myspace site, among other promotional tool sites, which are updated regularly and are listed below. At this present time I have been asked to sing for functions, pubs and other music venues, performing my own material and covers. I perform in pubs, festivals and venues locally at present, and have been promoting the release of the single 'Travelling,' produced by Forbes Coleman (FC Music Project). This is now available from ITunes, and other downloadable sources. I will be promoting my next single ‘Freefalling’ once available. My aim will again, be to promote this single through radio play; and it will be made available to buy online. I will soon be working on my next project which is to complete and make available for download a 5 track EP of my music.
Along with producing a five track EP, I have been recording an acoustic album, to sell at gigs. The idea of this album is that it is our live performance sound. This may appeal to anyone who prefers the acoustic, folk music sound. The album ‘Freefalling’ will be made available to buy at gigs shortly.
My own experience in music and the performing arts have been varied; I have performed over the years, in shows, and my own material. The places I have performed in include: Glyndebourne Opera House, Chequers Mead, East Grinstead, Lewes Town Hall; Ireland, London and for functions, and festivals. I am currently in two duos; one of which is a cover duo, and the other I promote my own music through. At present I am in the process of creating a band to accompany me performing my own material. I hope to be performing regularly locally and nationally, showcasing my music through recitals, and further performances.
I am at present taking my final year at Brighton Institute of Modern Music studying for (BA Hons) Professional Musicianship (vocals). This course allows me to work on my professional goals as a singer-songwriter.
I have also just completed a Music Production FDA with Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne.
Will began singing seriously when he was just 6 years old and has been writing songs since he was 14. His tastes in music cover all genres but amongst his strongest influences are Jeff Buckley (to whom he has often been likened) and songwriters such as Michelle Branch and John Shanks . Now 18, Will has an impressive catalogue of original songs and has been playing gigs around Kent and in London for over 3 years. Currently in his final year of "A" Level studies he also writes regularly for Punk Globe Magazine and has recently begun working with Ground Hero Films as a composer. London Summer Jam described his music as "smooth pop with an edge" whilst RSM's review of his single Urban Country described Will as "like John Mayer but a bit more fun and a little less world-weary". Will believes that "edge" is important, that your music should contain part of your soul and his certainly does.
