Storm Engine are a UK South-Eastern four piece who formed in 2008 after guitarist Wayne Brummer and bassist George Baldwin met on the set of an erotic Swedish film written by drummer Tim Pears and being directed by singer Ryan Barker. All of them had arrived that day by mistake (Tim was under the impression he’d written a cyber-thriller) and so Storm Engine was formed as a way of dealing with their collective shame and embarrassment.
Fast forward 7 years and Storm Engine are still going strong, bringing a melodic melange of funk and rock to the masses. All writers, their varied influences merge to create a unique and infectious sound formed from harmonious melodies, big riffs, funky bass and driving beats. At the heart of it all though, Storm Engine just want to have fun.
Local songstress Josie Lee has established herself as one of the leading female artists at the Grey Lady. Her haunting vocals carry a unique pure tone that is full of atmosphere and feeling. She has produced a distinct medley of contemporary, melodic songs with influences such as Jeff Buckley, Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell and Nirvana. She originally started out as a solo artist playing regularly at various local Tunbridge Wells venues and has performed here at the show previously as a duo. Josie started university at Falmouth in late September 2008 where she is reading English and creative writing although she fully intends to keep her songwriting and singing ticking along in the process!
Bea Everett is a 21 year old singer songwriter from Tunbridge Wells. She completed her BA Hons in Professional Musicianship at BIMM Brighton in June 2015, and has since been travelling, busking, and started her own Personalised Songwriting business (Beaspoke DesignerSong).
Bea started writing music at the age of 12 and has been performing at The Grey Lady and other venues since the age of 14. Her main musical influences include songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, KT Tunstall, Norah Jones and Katie Melua, but her music is mostly inspired by the people she meets and revelations that come from everyday life.
Bea’s first EP, “The Woods” is available to stream and buy online from various stores such as iTunes and Spotify.
Ever since being taught 'Tears in Heaven' by her dad when she was 12, Natalia decided to learn how to cover favourite artists such as City and Colour, Damien Rice, and Ben Howard. She's been writing her own material for a year or so now and although simple in melody, she hopes her songs bring some peace of mind to those willing to listen. She's still happily influenced by those artists who she would often cover in school concerts (and in her bedroom)
