Joanne Louise Parker

Joanne's musical apprenticeship has been rich and varied ranging from classical, through folk and jazz to popular music. She sang in Opus XVI, a London Chamber Choir for 5 years before moving onto backing vocals for the trip hop band 'Auburn'. In 2001, while nursing a hot chocolate in a Tofino coffeehouse, she re-discovered Joni Mitchell who has proved to be a strong musical influence for Joanne. Bought up against the harsh yet dramatic landscape of the Cambridgeshire fens, Joanne's forte is acapella. Fans and critics alike have commented that she has a voice which "makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck''. Joanne's folk roots/blues style encompasses elements of this varied musical background with lyrics that combine observation of the natural, spiritual and emotional.
